Resumo: Os lubrificantes são tão importantes para sistemas mecânicos como qualquer um de seus componentes, pois proporcionam maior durabilidade e eficiência. A revolução industrial e o desenvolvimento do setor automotivo impulsionaram a busca por lubrificantes cada vez melhores e mais específicos, de acordo com cada cenário de operação. Por isso, estudos nessa área, que envolve termos e noções particulares, são muito importantes, para garantir que esses produtos acompanhem o desenvolvimento dos sistemas mecânicos de forma geral, permitindo assim que o atrito entre as peças não seja um empecilho. Neste trabalho, são abordados os conceitos básicos referentes aos lubrificantes, trazendo também um contexto histórico do setor, desde seus primeiros usos. Após apresentar de forma clara a definição, são discutidas as principais propriedades e classificações dos lubrificantes, trazendo uma noção mínima para que o leitor compreenda a ficha técnica de um lubrificante e a importância das informações contidas nela. A principal propriedade é o índice de viscosidade, e baseada nela têm-se as principais classificações dos lubrificantes, que são as da API (American Petroleum Institute) e da SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers). Na sequência, o foco é apresentar o processo produtivo dos lubrificantes, sendo abordados temas como composição e as matérias-primas utilizadas, processos de refino e mistura. Considerando o volume de mercado, os lubrificantes de base mineral são mercados com maior relevância. Entretanto, cada vez mais os lubrificantes sintéticos ganham força, pela sua maior qualidade, apesar do maior custo. Existem diversas resoluções da Agência Nacional do Petróleo, Gás Natural e Biocombustíveis (ANP) que regulam esse mercado, sendo algumas delas também apresentadas neste trabalho. Além disso, existem metas de coletas que podem ser encontradas nos painéis dinâmicos da ANP, sendo que o volume de lubrificante coletado vem crescendo ao longo dos anos. Por fim, são explicitadas perspectivas para o setor, trazendo também dados que demonstram um panorama do mercado atual. Conclui-se que há uma expectativa de crescimento para o mercado de lubrificantes para os próximos anos, tanto em relação ao mercado global quanto ao mercado brasileiro, sendo que o aumento da venda de motos em função do crescimento do ramo de delivery em 2021 contribuiu para mitigar os impactos da pandemia nesse setor.

Abstract: Lubricants are just as important for mechanical systems as any of its components, as they provide greater durability and efficiency. The industrial revolution and the development of the automotive sector have driven the search for ever better and more specific lubricants, according to each operating scenario. Thats why studies in this area, which involves terms and concepts, are very important, to ensure that these products keep pace with the development of mechanical systems in general, allowing friction between parts to not be a hindrance. In this work, the basic concepts related to lubricants are discussed, also bringing a historical context of the sector, from its earliest uses. After presenting a clear definition, the main properties and classifications of lubricants are discussed, bringing a minimum understanding for the reader to understand the technical data sheet of a lubricant and the importance of the information contained in it. The main property is the viscosity index, and based on it, the main classifications of lubricants are the API (American Petroleum Institute) and the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers). Next, the focus is to present the production process of lubricants, discussing topics such as composition and raw materials used, refining and blending processes. Considering the market volume, mineral-based lubricants are the most relevant markets. However, synthetic lubricants are gaining more and more strength due to their higher quality, despite the higher cost. There are various resolutions from the National Agency for Oil, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) that regulate this market, some of which are also presented in this work. In addition, there are collection targets that can be found in the ANPs dynamic panels, and the volume of lubricant collected has been growing over the years. Finally, perspectives for the sector are explained, bringing data that demonstrates a current market overview. It is concluded that there is an expectation of growth for the lubricants market in the coming years, both in relation to the global market and the Brazilian market, and that the increase in motorcycle sales due to the growth of the delivery sector in 2021 has contributed to mitigating the impacts of the pandemic in this sector.
