Resumo: Existir é, além da presença viva, relacionar e construir vínculos com o próximo. A partir dessas pontes, a princípio, o indivíduo torna-se, sente-se, alia-se ao mundo que o cerca. No entanto, nem sempre esse coexistir acontece em equivalência e reciprocidade. Diferenças étnicas e raciais, infelizmente, tornaram-se instrumentos de segregação e quebra nas relações entre indivíduos. Assim, o presente estudo, por meio da leitura e análise dos personagens Imani, Sargento Germano de Melo e do controverso imperador Ngungunyane presentes na obra literária Mulheres de Cinzas, do escritor moçambicano Mia Couto, objetivou através do estudo e análise do princípio teórico existencialista do ????Outro???? de Jean-Paul Sartre do contraponto de Frantz Fanon a essa dialética do ????Eu e do Outro???? e dos estudos de construções ideológicas das culturas colonizadas de Edward Said, focalizar na obra como essas teorias podem ser espelhadas no relacionamento pessoal dos três personagens observados e com os demais povos que compunham o território moçambicano sob dominação portuguesa no início do século XIX. O aprofundamento em alguns princípios existencialista tornou viável um melhor entendimento de como a instituição de determinados estereótipos regulou as relações identitárias entre negros e brancos, tanto em Moçambique, como no mundo, sendo extremamente significativos para a percepção da estruturação social, dos problemas atuais relacionados a isso e da própria formação de Moçambique como território.

Abstract: Exist is, in addition to living presence, to relate and build bonds with others. From these bridges, at first, the individual becomes, feels, allies with the world around him. However, this coexistence does not always happen in equivalence and reciprocity. Ethnic and racial differences, unfortunately, have become segregation instruments and breakdown in relationships between individuals. Therefore, the present study, through the reading and analysis of the characters Imani, Sergeant Germano de Melo and the controversial emperor Ngungunyane present in the literary work Mulheres de Cinzas, by the Mozambican writer Mia Couto, aimed through the study and analysis of the Jean-Paul Sartre????s existentialist theoretical principle of the subject????s construction, from Frantz Fanons counterpoint to this theoretical dialectic and Edward Said????s studies of ideological constructions of colonized cultures, focus on the work as these theories can be mirrored in the personal relationship of the three characters observed and with the other peoples that made up the Mozambican territory under Portuguese domination in the 19th century. The deepening of some existentialist principles made possible a better understanding of how the institution of certain stereotypes regulated the identity relations between blacks and whites, both in Mozambique and in the world, being extremely significant for the perception of social structuring, of the current problems related to that and the formation of Mozambique itself as a territory.
