Resumo: RESUMO Todos os textos orais ou escritos, em situação de comunicação social, se dão por meio dos gêneros textuaisdiscursivos. O gênero crônica apresenta diferentes possibilidades de atuação em sala de aula por ser um gênero híbrido, que perpassa tanto a literatura (poesia) como o jornal. Para a análise do discurso é essencial a maneira em que se dá as condições de produção de sentido e de leitura dos gêneros, textuais. O objetivo deste trabalho é o de analisar a crônica ????Pausa???? no livro didático ????Novas Palavras???? no contexto de ensino da Língua Portuguesa em sala de aula, sob a justificativa de que a crônica tem um estilo ????próprio???? de leitura, interpretação e escrita, o que levanta o problema para se entender a razão do baixo rendimento e até mesmo do silenciamento dos alunos de 1ºano do Ensino Médio. Dessa forma, a metodologia aplicada no estudo será a de partir da materialidade linguística rumo ao processo discursivo das atividades do livro Além disso, propõe-se uma reflexão do gênero textual crônica como recurso didático, aplicado em sala de aula como instrumento da linguagem literária, capaz de motivar o aluno para prática de leitura, interpretação e escrita de textos. Os resultados deste estudo apontam para o silenciamento dos alunos pelo livro didático quando as possibilidades de produção de sentidos são limitadas pela condução dada nas atividades. Abstract: ABSTRACT All oral and written texts in a situation of social communication are possible through of the textualdiscursive genres. The genre Chronicle presents differents possibilities to be used in a classroom, because it is hybrid, and because it crosses the Literature (poetry) and the newspapers. To the discourse analysis, the conditions of production of sense are essential to reading activities. The purpose of this research is to analyze the chronicle ????Pausa???? in the book ????Novas Palavras???? in the context of Portuguese reading class. The justification is that the chronicle has an ????own???? style of reading, interpretation and writing, which raises the problem to understand the reason for the low performance and even the silencing of 1st year high school students. Thus, the methodology applied in this study will be from the linguistic materiality towards the discursive process of the books activities. At first, the discursive analysis of each activity of reading and interpretation of the chronicle ????Pausa???? will be carried out, pages 17 to 19 of the book ????Novas Palavras????, it????s seeking to understand if the studentsreaders are silencing for the book. Furthermore, the research proposed a reflection of the chronicle textual genre as a didactic resource, applied in the classroom as an instrument of literary language, capable of motivating the student to practice reading, interpreting and writing texts. The results of this study point to the silencing of students by the book when the possibilities for producing meanings are limited by the conduct given in the activities.
